An important mission for our foundation is to spread awareness about water safety, particularly with the ocean.

Rogue Waves

The waves occur without warning, and can knock people over and pull them out to sea…

Rogue waves in the ocean are basically waves whose height is more than twice the average of the largest third of waves for a given period of time. Therefore, rogue waves are not necessarily the biggest waves found on the water; they are, rather, unusually large waves for a given location and moment.

A wave that shows up much larger than you are expecting can be dangerous, and it only takes a second for a tragedy to occur. The waves occur without warning, and can knock people over and pull them out to sea. This is what happened to Wesley on April 25, 2018. This changed our lives in an instant.

Below are examples of rogue waves that have been recorded and shared online.
